Wisdom Teeth Removal
What is Wisdom Teeth Removal?
Your wisdom teeth may not be able to come in fully, which can leave the impacted underneath the gums. When these teeth become impacted, it can result in pain, swelling and discomfort. We are able to remove one or more wisdom teeth as needed to help prevent future problems from occurring. The procedure is done safely and easily in our office at your own convenience.
Why would Wisdom Teeth Removal be needed?
The reason you might need to have your wisdom teeth removed is because they are impacted or only able to partially erupt through the gums. Over time, these teeth can become downright painful, causing issues like headaches, ear aches, inflammation and infection. In more severe instances, the wisdom teeth can push against the neighboring teeth, causing them to crack or break. It is important to have the wisdom teeth removed as soon as possible to prevent these problems from happening.
Who is a candidate for Wisdom Teeth Removal?
To determine if you’ll need to have the procedure done, we’ll have you come into the office for a consultation. This will involve a comprehensive examination as well as x-rays. These x-rays allow us to see how the wisdom teeth are positioned and the best way to go about removing them. Wisdom teeth can be removed at any time and for any reason.
What happens during the procedure for Wisdom Teeth Removal?
We begin by administering a local or general anesthetic according to your needs. We then make an incision through the gums and remove the underlying tooth. Sutures are placed to help close the gums and promote quick, even healing. The process is repeated until all of your wisdom teeth are removed. You will go home with aftercare instructions that are designed to help promote optimal healing of the surgical sites. You can expect some pain and swelling following the procedure and up to about a week after surgery.
