Maintaining oral health needs a lifetime of care. Even if you got a compliment of having nice and pearly white teeth, it’s important to maintain and take care of them every day in order to prevent dental issues. This requires the correct choice of oral health care products and being consistent with your daily routine. In this post, you’ll get super easy ideas to keep your teeth healthy as well as shiny.

Avoid Going to Sleep Without Brushing the Teeth

Brushing your teeth twice a day is not a secret; it is the general instruction given by every dentist. Still, the majority of the people constantly neglect to brush their teeth at night or before sleeping. Brushing your teeth before going to bed can prevent the plaque and germs that accumulate on your teeth throughout the day.

But if you’re brushing twice a day, then as yourself, are you brushing properly? If you’re not brushing your teeth properly, then it will lead to various dental problems. Take a brush and move the toothbrush on your teeth in a circular motion in order to remove plaque and other germs. Unremoved plaque can toughen, causing gingivitis and calculus.

While brushing your teeth, don’t forget to clean your tongue too. Plaque can also develop on the tongue, which causes bad breath, as well as causing other oral health issues. It is necessary to brush your tongue each time you brush the teeth.

Don’t Forget to Floss and Mouthwash

Majority of the people who brush regularly neglect to floss every day. People consider flossing difficult every day, especially young kids and elderly adults with arthritis. Instead of giving up, switch your floss tools that can assist you in flossing. You can choose dental flossers from the medical stores that can make a visible difference.

With the habit of flossing and brushing, you also have to consider good mouthwash in order to maintain your oral health. Majority negates to use mouthwash because they don’t become aware about the benefits of mouthwash for maintaining good oral hygiene. Mouthwashes help in three different ways:

  • It minimizes the amount of acid in your mouth
  • It can re-mineralize your teeth
  • Cleans tough-to-brush areas of your mouth

Mouthwashes are the most useful tool and you can also ask your dentist which kind of mouthwash is good for you.

Drink as Much Water as You Can

Water is considered as a great beverage for the overall health of the people – including oral health. Drinking water after each meal can help to washout a couple of negative effects of acidic as well as sticky beverages and foods in between brushes.

Consume Crunchy Vegetables and Fruits

Consuming crunchy and fresh vegetables or fruits contain healthy fibers and also the best choice for the teeth. Avoid ingesting acidic and sugary foods because sugar turns into acid in your mouth, which can erode the enamel of the teeth. These kinds of acids are also a major cause of cavities. Coffee, tea, and acidic fruits can lead to several dental diseases.

By following all these above ideas, and visiting your dentist twice a year in order to maintain good oral health, you can smile and shine for your entire life!

How To Floss Correctly?

Dentists recommend that patients should floss daily. However, some of our patients will ask us if they are actually flossing correctly on a day-to-day basis, often asking after finding out they still had oral issues! This article will explore some of the ways that you can correctly

The Coil Method

The most common flossing technique that people will employ is called the coil method. Start by getting a thread approximately 45 centimeters long thread. This is called the coil method. Roll it in the middle finger leaving 3 or 6 centimeters to insert between the teeth and into the gums.

Hold it between your thumbs and index fingers and gently slide it from top to bottom between your teeth. Then bend the thread at the base of the tooth, so that it passes under the gum.

As you progress with the cleaning, clean sections of the thread as you switch between teeth. To remove it, move it from back to front by pushing it up so that it comes out of the tooth.

You should not make sudden movements when using dental floss because it could cause cuts or make your teeth weak and increase the chances that they break. Avoid putting it with a single push because the gums can be injured and bleed. Surround the canines to remove plaque debris. The important thing is to cover all the teeth.

The Loop Technique

Another technique for flossing is the loop. This is wrapped tightly in four fingers, tied with two knots forming a loop. Then the loop is held with the four fingers of one hand and the thumb of the other. Thus, it is introduced in a controlled way, without applying force that can damage the gum.

If you have an orthodontic appliance, pass the thread through the arch before cleaning the interdental spaces. When finished remove the food and bacterial plaque remains by rinsing your mouth. It is possible to complement the cleaning with mouthwash with fluoride.

Should You Floss Before Or After Brushing Your Teeth?

There is no specific time to complete the cleaning of the teeth with the dental floss. Just look for a time of day when you can spend more than two minutes on oral hygiene.

The order is not so important, you will get the same benefit. But if you prefer to use the thread and then brush you will first remove the interdental plate getting the brush to cover more surface. Thus, the toothpaste will penetrate more into the interdental spaces.

Instead, if brushing goes first; the thread will remove the plate that the toothbrush could not. In addition, it will reaffirm that just the first step is not enough. But the important thing is that you feel comfortable with the sequence you choose.
